Puddle Reflections

While on my photo walk I took a photo of my reflection in a puddle. I was looking at it and really liked it so I took a few more focusing on what I could see through the reflection. I really like this method and am considering doing something with water reflections for my final folio. Here are the photos I took:

This one was the first photo I took focusing on my reflection.

This one shows it was a reflection from a puddle.

I really like the next few photos because of the effect of the reflection, the clear sky and the detail of the trees. It reminds me of a painting and has an earthy feel to it.

Perspective Exercise

While on my photo walk I tried to find some good examples of perspective. I found this really hard as most scenes I saw had one focal point and nothing else. These are a few photos that I think represent perspective well.

This was my best representation of perspective because of the two fences and the path. You automatically look to the corner of the fence, but the path and the other fence try to draw your attention.

For this photo I thought it was a tricky perspective and made better by the different angle it was taken by. I like all the different directions the wood panels go as they scew your perspective of the overall image.
I took this photo because the middle focal point is actually curved. This changes the whole photo and makes the viewer have to have a second look to see whats happening.

I took this photo because of the two paths and the fence line. When I look at it I think that it doesn't make sense, which I like.

Crayola Colour Exercise

I had a lot of trouble finding all the colours on my walk as it was mainly nature or the colours just didn't stand out enough. I went out wanting to find vibrant colours, or at least some with some pattern to them. For most of the photos I found this, but I would have liked to find more vibrant examples and just more colours.

Circles excercise

For the first exercise I went out looking for anything that was a circle shape. I firstly tried photographing them in the centre of the photo, but decided I liked the circular object in the right side better.

I really like the contrast of the green and black here, the texture from the bush and pipe is also really effective.

I like this one because you can look through it. It is also a bit tricky because you are looking through a circular shape, but it is a rectangular prism inside.

I had trouble getting a really good face view of this one because it was so high up. I tried climbing on things to get higher, but then I was too far away.

I like this photo because of the contrast between the background and foreground. The background is very vibrant and eye catching, but the foreground is also so simplistic that its eye catching too.

I found this photo really interesting because there was an outer and an inner circle. In the first photograph I tried to capture the outer circle and in the next photograph I captured the inner circle. I like this shape because it spirals into the focal point.

I think there was some really good lighting this day, which helped capture each photo really well.

First Photo Walk

I was really worried going to my first photography class because I had missed a lot of classes. However once
I found out everything we are going to be doing I was excited about the new things I was going to learn and create. I then got my camera and I was ready to get started. I began going on a walk around my local park and took some photos to warm up.

I headed out to Wattle Park when it was cloudy and it ended raining a bit. I wore a jacket with a hood, but could'nt find any shoes that'd be good in the rain. While on the walk I took photos of anything that I liked the look of. I focused on aesthetic qualities, perspective, nature, focal points and anything really.

I like this photo because of the shapes of the trees and because if you look closely you can see the chair.

Throughout the day I tried to take some photos taking perspective into account. I wanted to viewer to firstly look at the focal point, but then have something else trying to take their focus.

I really liked this table because of the arch at the bottom and how you could have a whole new perspective by looking through it.

I like these photos because of the fine detail in the post and the other focal point of the tram.

For these photos I tried to capture some objects through the window, but had trouble with focus and finding an object to focus on.

I like this photo because the door makes a really good frame for the objects behind.

I like this photo because of the sky and the cool clock tower.
